Member statement: RCR maintains a strong sustainability policy with several restaurants certified by Ocean Wise, one of the most rigorous global seafood sustainability organizations. From the very beginning, our motto has been “Yes, we can!” When we learned about the threat posed by open-net pen salmon farms to our coastline – environmentally and economically – the choice was obvious. Yes, we can and will do the right thing by committing to taking ocean-farmed salmon off the menu at all our restaurants and in our catering business. Our customers deserve only the best of the province’s fresh seafood, including land-raised salmon from Sustainable Blue. This aligns with our values as East Coasters and responsible stewards of the seafood industry.
