Member statement: Mitch’s Catch works with local fishers to support a healthy and sustainable ecosystem. Protecting the health of our oceans protects the health of our seafood. Over the last few decades, we’ve directly witnessed the detrimental impact of open-net pen salmon farms to the BC ecosystem. The damage of these in-water systems impacts wild salmon populations as well as the entire wild ecosystem. We’re grateful to see a ban on in-water salmon farms being implemented and fully support the transition to land-based closed containment systems. We’re committed to supporting sustainable practices that protect our wild seafood resources for future generations.
