Member statement: Following the promise of Canada’s Federal Government, Organic Ocean, a sustainable seafood supplier founded by fishermen, supports the immediate transition of open net pen salmon farming in British Columbia to environmentally friendly closed containment systems. With wild salmon facing challenges from climate change and habitat degradation, we cannot afford to spare any effort in taking care of this precious resource. By ensuring a future for wild salmon stocks, we will enhance the resilience of the ecosystem, support the viability of coastal and indigenous communities, and provide a healthy source of protein for Canadians.
